Arkansas Energy Code for New Building Construction

Notice of changes to the Supplements and Amendments to the Arkansas Energy Code for New Building Construction.

The updated Rules and Regulations for the Arkansas Energy Code have adopted the ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2007 for commercial buildings.   ASHRAE 90.1-2001 is in effect until 12/31/2012.  On and after 1/1/2013 ASHRAE 90.1-2007 will take effect.

This amendment also clarifies the rules and regulations needed for Act 1196 of 2009 which requires any city or county in Arkansas which issues building permits for new building construction to adopt the Arkansas Energy Code as amended.

Effective on and after 1/1/2013 this amendment adopts two mutually exclusive compliance paths for commercial buildings: ASHRAE 90.1-2007 or Chapter 5 of the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (2009 IECC).  The name of the Rules and Regulations has been changed from "2004 Arkansas Energy Code for New Building Construction" to "Arkansas Energy Code for New Building Construction Supplements and Amendments."
