The Arkansas Energy Code for New Building Construction Supplements and Amendments is a combination of the 2003 Edition of the International Energy Conservation Code (2003 IECC) with Arkansas Supplements and Amendments to the 2003 International Energy Conservation Code. The residential code went into effect on October 1, 2004, and ASHRAE 90.1-2001 will be in effect for commercial buildings until 12/31/2102. On and after 1/1/2013 ASHRAE 90.1-2007 or Chapter 5 of the 2009 IECC will be in effect.
The Arkansas Energy Code for New Building Construction Supplements and Amendments has made the following changes: Chapter 1 of the 2003 IECC has been replaced with a new Chapter 1: Administration and Enforcement which was amended to integrate Arkansas-specific exceptions, exemptions, enforcement, compliance and effective date. Other changes to the 2003 IECC are also documented. Chapters 4, 5 and 6 of the 2003 International Energy Conservation Code offer different methods to achieve code compliance for low-rise residential construction. Up to 12/31/2012, Chapters 7 and 8 of the International Energy Conservation Code 2003 offer different methods to achieve code compliance for commercial and high-rise residential construction. On and after 1/1/2013 the commercial code will be ASHRAE 90.1-2007 or Chapter 5 of the 2009 IECC. The Arkansas Energy Office does not provide copies of the 2003IECC.
